I'm working with the SC Humane Society to try to put identities to horses that were part of the Trexler seizure. They took in 48, though two didn't make it, and most are so far unidentified.
Can we reach out big time (forums, etc) and ask anyone who sold a horse to Trexlers at any time to let me know when, what horse (at least name/registration number), and any recent status? These may have been sold to James W, Julie C, Terry, or possibly some other family members, in Georgia, South Carolina or possibly North Carolina, Tennesee, and surrounding states.
We've identified a lovely mare that was one of the 10 spirited out of quarantine in Georgia and dumped at a low-end sale, though it appears only she escaped a long trip to Mexico and slaughter. This mare was not transferred to Trexler's name(s), but we have a positive ID from her breeder.
It will take a lot of legwork, but the more info I can get, the more I can do for these horses (in addition to finding some financial assistance for their care). The SCHC is pushing for the pursuit of the felony abuse charges against Trexlers, and they could use all the help they can get to substantiate the case and to possibly get some more help either caring for these horses or finding additional foster homes until the court proceedings are completed and the horses can actually be rehomed.
SCHS has been granted custody but not ownership, so nothing permanent regarding these horses can be done until ownership is granted, hopefully upon resolution of the current court action. It's anticipated that this may be as much as 18 months from now!
