Hi all.

Below are the offerings for the next GA State Equine Auction. All of these are horses which have been conviscated by the state due to poor care. There are quite a few Arabs and Arab crosses this time. I don't know about the particulars of any of them but, several months ago, I talked with one of the workers in this program (who used to show Arabs) and she told me about an Arab mare who was an accomplished show horse who ended up in a bad situation and in this program. I am not even sure if their registration papers go with those who have them but it might be worthwhile to see if that could be worked out if there were any horses there that looked interesting.

I know times are tough for everyone but if you have some room in your barn, please have a look. smile.gif

Wow there are a lot of Arabs in the auction. I hardly ever see any in auctions of any type.

Yes, there really are a lot this time. It is really, really sad. I just feel like it's the "end of the world" when even horses that normally have a fair amount of monetary value end up in situations like this! I really, really wish I were out of school and settled in a good job! If I were, I would try to get one!

Are these some of the Trexler horses that were confiscated in Georgia?

That I don't know. You might want to click on the link I gave at the beginning of the thread to get the phone number and find out. I was kind of wondering that myself but, as I am not in position to bid on anything just now, I didn't call and ask.

got this fromm another forum,

a little more info about the Arabians.

Save the date!! Thirty Egyptian Arabian horses which were seized by the State of Georgia last fall are to be auctioned on two separate days with the first auction planned for 11:00 a.m, Saturday, August 16, 2008. You may remember that 45 more of this particular group of Arabs was seized by the Humane Society of South Carolina this spring after their previous owner moved the horses across the state line.

The first auction will be primarily for fillies and mares and the second auction, tentatively planned for September 20th will be primarily for the new geldings. The Georgia Department of Agriculture website, www.agr.georgia.gov/ has a link to information about the auction. Check the website again as the auction date grows closer for a full color catalog of the horses to be auctioned, including photos and information about temperament, any test ride information, etc.

The group includes rose greys, steel greys, dark greys, chestnuts, bays and a bay roan. These horses are absolutely stunning and despite having gone through a period of near starvation and some coming in with embedded halters, they are loving and gentle. Watching their amazing gaits, you can envision them as finished dressage, hunter jumper or eventing horses or simply as beautiful additions to your pasture.

The horses can be previewed on the morning of the auction.

Please feel free to cross post this information to any other Arabian horse sites or email to friends who love Arabians. These horses have had a very rough start in life and are now healthy and gorgeous and ready to have loving homes with people who appreciate the incredible beauty and loving and high spirited nature of Arabians. They have had the worst of care and deserve to have continued excellent care now. Thank you!
