Welcome to Arabian Breeders Network
Websters Arabians
We have been avid horse owners for over 40 years now owning TBs through to Welsh ponies but our true passion has always been the Arabian breed. After moving to Florida 15 years ago from the UK my REAL obsession with the Arabians started with the purchase of the Polish stallion Fasas by Polak, out of the Swedish National Champion dam Feminaa.

http://www.nevadahorsepark.com/

I emailed asking some questions and received a call back right away. I haven't been able to call them back, but I want a foot in the door for our clubs up here to be able to have a show there.

This facility is supposed to be big enough to host Rolex style events. Heck, we could even have Region III there.

I also inquired about donating to the project, although I could only support a few fence panels or a stall front huh.gif

Soudns like this would be a good place for Sport Horse Nationals too. Kentucky will be out of reach for many in the west with the high cost of fuel.

I agree, it would be an excellent location for SHN's.

In my short email communications with the people involved, I have learned that there will be, in the beginning, 17 arenas and 900 show stalls. Along with that, there will be at least 100 RV spaces. Within a mile are a Best Western, and a Holiday Inn Express just began construction.

Existing hotels already in the area and many restaurants make this an ideal location for venues almost all year long. The fact that the Carson Valley rarely gets to 100 degrees and is not humid helps even more. I can't wait for this to be built and urge any who are able to donate to the project.

The Park Ranch, who is considering donating the land, would like to see a significant sum of money pledged before finalizing the deal. The Park Land and Cattle Company has vast holdings in The Great Basin up here.
Won't it be exciting to have a horse park in the west even better than Kentucky and Florida?!?!?!

I think this facility will be wonderful, not only for my favorite breed, but for every single breed and discipline there is.

Here is a guest opinion in the local paper, written by one of the people involved in the project.

I just came across this thread. One of the members of the Board of Directors is my back door neighbor.

I'll have to see if I can hook up with her and talk to her in the next week or so.

After looking at the map of the location, this place is very close to my house. I pass it whenever I go to Carson City. It is just north of my tur off on 395 on the west side of 395 and just south of Stephanie Lane if that helps any of the locals on here.

Regards,
Peter Mileo

Folks, the project is starting to see some resistance from locals who are not horse and ranch people. Now they're certainly entitled to their opinion, and even to dislike horses, but at least one has been rather sarcastic and put out a lot of misinformation. This is a farm and ranch community that has seen a large influx of city people when the property values were just right.

This is the local paper

I would ask that letters supporting the project be sent to the editor. This park would benefit any horse folks living in the western United States IMO.

This is interesting - I LOVE Reno, but my grandma lives just south of the Minden/Gardernerville area, and I would be very excited to see R3 move there, because it's about 20 minutes away from my grandma's place. =D

This is the same issue that everyone has with every National show under the sun. They didn't want SHN in the west, they didn't want US to go to Tulsa, (I thought the rotating east/west was nice to get people level on that - it's gone now), and now they don't want SHN in the east. The trouble is - Kentucky is a lot more centrally located than Nevada, and until they put nationals in Kansas, nobody wins. It's not a good thing at all.

Otherwise - it would be a GREAT place to host one of our National shows. Lets rotate US between there and Tulsa. =D

I’m all for a top quality facility in the North West. Lets just hope everything works out, and the facility is able to be built.

As said directly above me, unfortunately no one will be happy with the location of a National show until they put it smack dab in the middle. However I’m all for bringing the rotation back, and rotating U.S between Tulsa/Nevada. The less flying I have to do, the better.

340 horses entered for a National Championship is pretty pitiful. Does not even measure up to a Regional Championship in numbers.

I've been to regular Class A shows that had just over 300 horses entered. Pretty sad number for a "National Championship".
