Have you looked on AHA's site? In a quick look, I've found a few that would work for you in your price range. A lot of EP mares in that price range aren't trained or are too young. But they are out there.

As an example, here's a half arab/hackney I found that is sweepstakes, already has a show record, is 8 years old and is in your price range. Bonus is she is in Canada (Ontario). But she is grey, and if I remember correctly, you were looking for a nongrey.

Thanks, I check the AHA almost daily LOL, I will check the link, I dont want a grey since I have 3 greys and grey is such a dominate color that if I got a grey mare she would throw grey babies etc..... LOL But................ I may have to change my mind

THANKS:)

Odds are you will have a grey foal. However, we had a grey mare bred to a chestnut stallion and got a dark bay. Had another grey bred to chestnut and got another bay. No bays in that pedigree until I went back 8 generations. Go figure. I know it isn't what you are asking about, but there is hope for not getting a grey.

Good luck on your search. Debbie (IDL) is right - many in that price range are very young and/or untrained. If I come across anything, I will be sure to let you know.

Please let us know when you do find what you are looking for.

Hello:

It is very difficult to find a mare at that price trained and ready to go. You may find an older mare that could produce you some english type babies at that price, but that is asking a lot for a horse ready to go. People have spent a lot of money for getting a performance horse ready - usually for years, unlike halter where you can sell them as babies. Although any horse that can be a competitor already has a lot of money into them if they are show ready. You can get lucky at times and run into a "distress" sale, but not often on English horses. They bring the big bucks, just like top notch halter horses.

For what level are you looking? Class A only? Or are you planning on going on to higher levels? Are you looking for an "open" English horse, or strictly Amateur? All of these things make a difference. I will check around as well, but even good geldings are selling for $35,000 and up for open competition. In fact, people think they get a deal at that price.

As far as getting a grey, you can always have the mare tested to see if she is homozygous grey - then just don't breed to greys. Even though that means she will always produce a grey when bred to a grey, you at least have a 50/50 chance then. We have quite a few grey mares, as do a lot of breeders that produce solid colors even when bred to a grey. Several of our greys will produce bay or chestnut when bred to a solid color stallion. One bay mare that we had would only produce grey or chestnut, never bay in the entire 25 years we owned her. One grey mare produced two chestnuts even when bred to a grey stallion, but he was not homozygous either.

I will however, see what I can find for you. You also didn't state any prefered bloodlines. If you are buying a mare, are you concerned with that?

Addis Auctions are a great place to get great deal on a horse. You may get lucky and find one there. I would check their sales dates and catalog.

Thanks guys...... I did find a mare I really liked in my price range she is very green broke and I was ready and willing to buy her untill I got opinions from other people on a different horse forum.

I am still thinking of buying her, I am awaiting for another video of her in liberty now. I have the video of her under saddle and I liked what I saw but others didnt, and since I am no expert I am taking there opinions into major consideration. How do you know from a video that the horse is right for you and will be an EP mare?? These times I WISH I still had a trainer but since I just moved and am alone in the pick! This forum helps me alot!!!!! smile.gif

Here's one that has been successfully shown, but she's HA:
http://www.equine.com/Horses/ad_details.as...21a3bde&p=3

Here's a really nice purebred filly but she's only three and not trained yet. She is listed higher than your price range but they also have another ad for her on the same site for $10,500 so maybe they'd take an offer. Love her bloodlines! http://www.equine.com/Horses/ad_details.as...8c-a676b044b14c
