My sister is due to "foal" what is sure to be a beautiful little girl on November 22nd. There has been a lot of bad news delivered once she found out she was pregnant, including the fact that her husband (Air Force Reserves) has been put on active duty and is due to ship out for 9 months just one month after my sister has their baby. This is a first for my sister, but her husbands second child (he has another from a previous marriage). I'm concerned for her anyway because she's going to have a tough road ahead of her handling the first 9 months on her own, but now I am even more concerned.
Last night, I received a phone call stating that my sister was in the hospital, she'd been admitted and she had had some bleeding. She was also experiencing random contractions that were getting more frequent and increasing in strength. The doctors performed a pelvic exam and found her to be 30% ephased already, and gave her steroids to strenghten the baby's lungs in case she was born early, and also gave my sister some medication to slow/stop the contractions. Instead of decreasing, the contractions grew stronger and more frequent and upon a second pelvic exam 3 hours later, they found her to be 50% ephased!
They had the baby on a monitor and all of her vitals are very strong and she appears to be healthy, however as of today my sister is still experiencing some sporatic contractions despite remaining on medication. She has 13 weeks to go to her due date, so the doctors have opted to keep her there one more day for monitoring before releasing her on bedrest until the baby is born.
Please keep my sister, her husband and their expected arrival (Zoe, a girl) in your thoughts and prayers in these next couple of months. I will, of course, provide updates throughout the next couple of months but let's hope baby Zoe stays in there for at least a few more weeks!!!
Thanks in advance, y'all, it's nice to feel like you have so many friends there to support you in times of need!
