Greetings from Daytona- we are getting all of the rain out of the way now so that things look great in January!

The Daytona Class A January show is on the USEF calendar. I'm about to turn in the AHA paperwork but we have some options. So I am contacting you to determine what our exhibitors are most interested in for January 2009 as we would like to have a good show, and break even after donations.

Myron Krause's message recently said that 13 shows had been cancelled ytd and that 26 Class "A" shows to date had a decrease in numbers; 12 Class "A" shows had an increase in numbers although most were small increases.

Based upon my understanding, although I'm awaiting clarification from AHA and USEF, we have these options:

1. We can hold just a R12 show for two days as usual with main ring, dressage, sport horse, and working hunter/jumper.

2. We can hold two concurrent shows with TWO judges - and two sets of results. This will increase costs to all exhibitors as you cannot enter one show and not enter the other. We can make these a R12 and R15 show. But it's beneficial if you plan to go to both regions and/or are working towards national qualifications. One travel, two shows, two days!

3. Same as above but we make them R12 and R14 shows, however, we DO NOT have R14 Director approval which is necessary so this might not be possible.

4. DRESSAGE - We will probably not hold upper level dressage this year as this requires a TD. However, if we have enough rides needed by exhibitors, we could schedule them on one afternoon and bring in a local TD for that session, but we'd need to know quickly to secure a local TD.

5. We are exploring the two show option for sport horse, as it's not an option for dressage.

6. We may not hold the working hunter over fences as we have had only about 6 horses even though they enter multiple classes/series. Please let us know if you NEED working hunter and jumper. This is very labor extensive and tough on the volunteers.

Please hit REPLY (not REPLY ALL) - and let me know what option you prefer. If you need Working Hunter, tell me and if you need upper level dressage, please let me know.

Thanks! - We are working to hold another successful show to benefit all!

Cheryl

I think the trainer my horse is with would support a 12/15/ qualifier. I know I would if it's feasible for me to send my horse!

a region 12/14 would be great - - since the June GAHA show has now changed to a 12/15 qualifier. I am not really very hopeful, though, that region 14 would go along with this. if the 12/14 is not possilbe, either a 12/15 or 12/9 double qualifier would be great to have in this area. I had not planned on showing horses until early March, but we might be able to make a January show in Florida (how far is Daytona from Atlanta???)

Is there any way to still bring in a TD for this show so that we can have FEI Dressage? Even if it's only for a day. You could definitely count me in. wink.gif

Thank you!!

I think we might be talking a about two different things
what they want to get rid of at convention is the multi-judge class A option that was voted in last year - - where it would be like the stock horse shows with several judges in the arena for each class, giving their own separate placings, etc. I would not attend such a show - - I hated it with my QH's and sure do not want to see the arab shows go to this method. not only horribly boring, these shows would cost the exhibitors more because of the added cost of extra judges, shows tend to raise fees overall, and AHA would need to revamp their qualifying points system (& this in turn would affect those who do not go to multi-judge shows and are trying to qualify for regionals or nationals) and also the sweepstakes points program.
what I thought you were suggesting was a back to back show like the GAHA show - - where at show I you have one judge and qualify for one region; then have show II immediately after that show finishes and it has a different judge and qualifies you for a different region. (ie, show I on Th/F and show II on Sat/Sun). this I would support.

We are doing a back to back show one will 12 and the other will be 15 or 14 As of right now it is a 15, 14 doesn't want it to happen.' We needed people input, with times being hard and shows being very light, we want to make sure its going to be backed up..

One bad show can end any more shows,

I really hate that region 14 is being so "ornery" about a qualifier in our area. Do you suppose they really believe that people will now trek all the way to that regional, right in the middle of all the region 12 qualifying shows, to get points for region 14? Or maybe they do not actually want the Fla/Ga/AL/etc. folks to come to their regionals? (I know their show manager wants people there, but not sure about the clubs or members........)

I had went for a few years,, Going up in April , It snow the one year we were there, But now the cost is so much.. I really did love going there, and it did seem that they like us being there,, As light as the shows are they need all the people we can get...

So if I can slow down the travel I will be able to show more untill we all get back on our feet,, I am thinking that the Thanksgiving Show will be hurting a little, Some people feel it will hurt a lot
