Hi everyone, I'm new here, and I wondered if I could get some advice. I've been learning reining and showing all summer on a registered 5 year old Half-Arabian gelding Smart Bask Olena, whose sire is Smart Chics aCharmer by Smart Chic Olena. I don't know much about Arabian lines, his dam is Bonita Katerina, sired by Mel Fahkar, and I think her dam's side goes back to Bask. Are these good lines?

It's time for me to sell him and move up to an NRHA ready horse. I wish I could have shown him in some Arabian shows this year, but there were none close enough to me. I think he could rack up some AHA points if shown in Half-arabian reining classes. I'm not sure how to price him. I have a video of him at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i-jc_6uqSo

Could someone tell me if he may be competitive if shown AHA? I've been showing him in a regional reining association against predominantly quarter horses, he's got me ranked at 3rd in year end standings for my Green Rider class, and he's ranked 3rd for the first round in the Non-Pro Green Horse futurity (the 2nd round is this weekend). Our best score was 70, but he averages 68 or so because I have no where to really teach him to slide. He'll slide in a nicely groomed indoor arena, but we typically show in sticky outdoor arenas where he's not confidant enough try. He zeros all other maneuvers as long as his rider doesn't mess up He's got a lot of heart and tries his hardest to please his rider.

My reining trainer is willing to take him as a trade towards another horse for a $5,000 value. He must think he can sell him for more than that though. I'm holding off on that because I care where this horse ends up and would like to sell him myself.

Also, any suggestions for marketing him? Thanks for any help!
