Paradise Egyptian Stud is pleased to announce that the Al Lahab son, Jadoube Ibn Lahab DMF, will be standing here beginning this fall!! He is absolutely stunning and is very much his sire, World Champion Al Lahab, in looks and type, but will have more size.

I am curious. I love Sabino Arabs but what EXACTLY are the policies of the Registry on blue eyes in purebred Arabians. I thought blue eyed Arabs were unregisterable. Am I mistaken?

I've never heard that you can't register them. I think they're listed as an 'undesireable trait" somewhere and would probably hurt you in halter.

Mistaken - AHA will registered qualified DNA verified Purebred Arabians. Does not mean that they like it however.

Thanks for the responses to my question. I've often wondered about that one...

I knew of a friend of a friend who had a purebred blue eyed colt several years ago by a very big named halter stallion. She chose not to register him and gave him away, just because, I'm sure, she figured he wouldn't be very marketable and cut your losses. Im not sure if she bought the mare in foal, or bred to him herself.... but I heard thru that that both parents must carry the gene in order for that to show up. Probably not something the stallion owner wanted out, anyway. LOL.

Then again, a half Paint will often get the blue eyes, and I can't imagine that there are that many purebreds with that gene, but who knows... and Jettana, I think she posts here, had that cool looking colt with the blue eyes, but I think he was a half arab/saddlebred??? not sure.

Jody's new mare LLC Strikeit Rick has a partial blue eye. I had wondered how the registry handled this.

my boy is a 1/2 arab saddlebred whose dam has one blue eye ,I am not sure of the hereditary factors as the mare has had 5 foals and only one had the high white and 2 partial blue eyes.
His dam line is known to produce these features along with a big trot.

ya it was this same attitude that made most breeders try to"breed out" the sabino strain back in the 80's.. I am eternally grateful that it didn't work..One of the most beautiful Arabians i ever saw was a Khemosabi son that some breeders i kenw (and liked very much)that came out with 3 white stockings thru the knees, a blaze dwon the face and one while spot the color of a dinner plate on his side near the girth area. They never did register him and i sooo wished he coulda been mine......
