A wee bit about Fiona
I’m an Equine artist, and I specialize in the Arabian horse. I have been blessed to have observed and studied and painted Arabians for years. My favorite paintings to create are of the horse in motion. Tossing their heads, galloping, rearing, snorting and blowing, tails flagged and the wind whipping their manes.

i am leasing one of our horses to a couple of girls who are college students that will be using him for hunter over fences classes. they are interested in the possiblity in showing him at arabian shows as well as their colligate shows. what shows could they show him at to be eligible for regionals? ( reg 13/14 area) how many points does it require? are there any shows left this fall for them? thanks

I can't answer your question. But I am curious about the intercollegiate thing. You can bring your own horse? How is that possible? Unless they are keeping them at a barn that hosts those shows?

You would need to go to usef.org and look under competitions. It allows you to search by discipline/breed (Arab H/Arab) and also by state. So you would look under IN, MI, OH, KY and is it WV(for R14?; not sure) But it will have competition dates that are USEF approved shows so that they would be R13 & R14 qualifiers. I don't know if there are any left or not. You may have to wait till next spring. Good luck

That can be an issue. At IHSA they determine who rides what horse by way of lottery. In some cases a trade can be made, like if a super tall person draws a pony. So, the rider doesn't get a chance to practice, they are lucky if they can see the horse go. I am guessing your horses may be being used as school horses for the team.

Very few shows in Region 14 have over fences classes. End of March, early April the Bluegrass shows at the KHP have 2 days of over fences and then the off site h/j championships. I think the shows are pretty much over for this part of the country. You can qualify at openshows by signing up for the program and showing in classes at the same height or higher. Unrated classes at rated shows count as well so say schooling hunters at 3' would qualify for opens or AOTR.
A horse needs one point for each over fences division for regionals.

Oh, didn't know you were focusing on jumping only. The Hoosier Horse Classic in June in IN has jumping as does the Pro/Am in Sept in IN. But the Pro/Am will be too late next year to qualify for SHN so if that is your goal you may need to hit the Hoosier Horse Classic; unless open shows can qualify you.
