Welcome to Arabian Breeders Network
Achaean Arabians
We are located in historic horse country in Northern Virginia. Our farm is home to three Straight Egyptian stallions sharing the honor of having some of the best bloodlines still available in the US.

Since 1981 we have been involved with Arabians, starting with the purchase of our *Morafic grandson, Harem Shamahsheik. At age 28, Sheik is still going strong and still loves to drive the wagons for community events.

With my dressage horse 3 hours away, I rely on Dressage Today (& other books and internet articles) to keep my "riding" mind sharp. I look forward to receiving the magazine each month. I think it has great articles with helpful training tips.

I just received my November issue this week. Just when I thought I wouldn't get much out of this issue, I found a solution to the problem I am having with the mare I ride here at home! dry.gif

Anyhow, just wondering if any of you are as thankful for your Dressage Today? Or what other resources do you have/use off of the horse?

I feel the same about Practical Horseman! Seems every month there is an article about some training issue I have been having and solutions to it!

Hi 'thealishamin',

Yesterday, I visited a friend who is also in dressage, watched her latest dressage dvds, and glanced through her Dressage Today. The November issue had some very good articles which I want to read so I am going to see if I can find the November issue in a local bookstore. The Equus and Dressage Today are my two favorite magazines.

I have been reading their magazine since it's first article and it has been educational for me. When Potomac Fever broke out in this area in the 80's, there was only one vet who had experience with it. He was originally from Maryland. I contacted the Equus magazine and asked for information on Potomac Fever and they kindly sent me the information they had. Three of my mares from separated pastures contracted Potomac Fever and, thanks to Equus, I had been checking my horses several times a day and caught the mares in the beginning stages. My mares survived although nearly a dozen horses were known to have died from it. I give credit to Equus for providing the information I needed to be aware of the symptoms. Equus is a great magazine for horse owners.

There is an article by Hilda Gurney in the November issue of Dressage Today that I want to read concerning bridles and bits. I have dibs on my friend's magazine when she is finished with it because she never saves any of her magazines. It was one of several articles that appeared to be interesting.

Got my Dressage Today on Monday. Hilda's article was very good and it seems she will be a contributor for a few more issues. I always enjoy
the Pro's helpful tips. I haven't had a chance to read the whole mag yet though. Life is too busy at times. Hopefully in a few more weeks I will
have been able to. We get Equus too, and Practical Horseman. Equus had a great article on Scilicosis the disease that took our favorite mare
a few years ago. It seems since she died(and they used her health info for research) they have found new ways to diagnos. It is a relief to us
to know someone elses horse may not have to suffer for 4 yrs with a series of mis-diagnosis due to lack of knowledge, or tools.
