Welcome to Arabian Breeders Network
Whispering Hil Farml
Whispering Hill Farm is a small breeding farm located in Northwestern Pennsylvania. My husband and I have been raising Arabians, Half-Arab Pintos, and NSH's since 1980. We currently stand a gorgeous purebred Arabian stallion, My Alybi, and an extremely typey Half-Arab Pinto, WH Twist of Fate. Check out our sales page for some beautiful animals available at this time. At Whispering Hill, color is truly a bonus!

Thanks for putting up the logo and link to the website of the Arabian Reining Horse Association. Reining is the biggest and best thing that has come along for the Arabian and Half Arabian Horse in memory. The Scottsdale Arabian and Half Arabian Reining Classic is held at the annual Scottsdale All Arabian Show. It features the $120,000 Half Arabian Reining Futurity, and the $80,000 Arabian Reining Futurity. This is for 4 and 5 year old horses that are shown in the Snaffle Bit. This is a great way to have fun and show your breeding program off. Reining is a World Wide sport that is growing every day. It could be one of the next Olympic Sports. Contact the Arabian Reining Horse Association to get information on the Futurity and to join.

This is one thing I think Jasoor would do wonderfully at. Is there anything you can tell before one is under saddle about how much potential as a reiner they might have?

Would natural sliding rollbacks.. on command when freelunging count? lol He'll do them as many times as I ask him too.. butt sinks under, back rounds up and he slides, then rolls back into the fence and canters off the other direction... every time biggrin.gif

I think this would be serious fun and serious work.. I'm well past the ring around the rosey classes.. western pleasure bores me to tears but reining.. that's something I could sink my teeth into I think wink.gif

The best way to find out if your horse can do this is to try it!!! Remember - if you have a Purebred or Half Arab that is in their 4 or 5 year old years - the Reining Futurities at Scottsdale put on by ARHA are worth, in 2007 - $120,000 for the HA, and $80,000 for the purebreds! In 2006 there were about 35 Half Arabs entered for an $80,000 purse!!! In 2006 there were somewhere around 22, plus or minus, purebreds vying for $50,000 in prizemoney!!!! Yes the amouts of purses have increased for 2007.

how difficult is the 4 and 5 year old tests tho? Jasoor is coming 3 1/2 and nowhere close to being ready mentally or physically to ride just yet.. slow maturing bloodlines and I won't push beyond what he's ready for. Is it feasible that if I don't start riding him until he's 4 or better that he could still compete at 5?

Probably a moot point as he's not futurity anyway.. but it did make me wonder because typically i won't start mine until they are closer to 4 and sometimes 5 depending on the individual. huh.gif

Hi

I am really impressed by the reining for Arabians in USA. Wow !! That's sound absolutely wonderful and the prize money is very attractive .

In France there are really few Arabians who are doing reining. I've bred one who is now in USA , won his Regional championship in 2006 and then also just won some days ago another show in Idaho with a nice score of 70.
He should be entered in Scottsdale 2007, he is ridden with a snaffle.

Reining is a very fun discipline, I like it very much. It develops a lot in Europe but especially with the american breeds .
I do hope that many Arabians will go to this discipline where the qualities of this breed are really usefull !

And as many say : Don't just ride , slide !!
