So I am excited and frustrated at the same time. My 23-year old mare, Rajkumari Zarra, is one single lousy point away from earning her Legion of Honor award. I took her to an open Dressage show yesterday and rode two tests, scored 60% on both which earned 4 achievement award points. We needed 5!!! I came so close to adding a First Level Test 2 ride because someone scratched, but with her age, she is a two test per day horse. She usually gets stiff and cranky after two rides, so I didn't take the chance in trying a third ride. As luck would have it, after riding that second test, I had a very sound and energetic old horse who could have easily handled a third ride, but it was way too late to add it. DARN!!!

But then, that one last point should be easy enough to get, provided that her health holds out through the winter, oh, and layoffs don't happen at work. She will be 24 when she earns the big award. She started showing at the age of 19 and I have been doing all this by myself. I will definitely celebrate when (and if) we finally get there. It most likely will also mark Zarra's retirement.

Tamara the photographer was there and I am anxious to see the photos. She always gets the best shots.

Congratulations Patty and Zarra. I'm sure you will get that one point in short order.

To be 1 point away from receiving your mare's Legion of Honor is a huge accomplishment, especially in the amount of time you have been showing her! CONGRATULATIONS! Keep us posted. We will be sending more "Congratulations" WHEN (not "if") she does!

Seems like those last couple of points are the hardest to earn! Good luck and congrats!

An EARLY congratulations! I know how excited you are as we are hoping to get the gelding in my avatar's last points next summer. If he does as well next year as he did this year it will be done. ALL of the points except for 1.5 we have earned on our own with just a couple of lessons p/year. And actually since those 1.5 points earned by pros were earned over 2 years we may not go back to pay the $150 for them so then all of the points will be earned by ammies! It really does feel good to do it on your own! Winter has just started and I can't wait for it to be over so I can get back to work. No indoor in a northern state has made this very challenging!

Congratulations!!! Let us know when you will be riding for your one point and we will be cheering you on. You have come this far with your mare on your own so you have the determination and commitment to earn your final point. I will certainly hope that you will not be laid off. Take care.

Good luck getting your last point!

What is the difference between the achievement points and regular points, I just looked up my geldings record to see if he was getting close and noticed them.
