The snow that was predicted to arrive this morning is falling. I rather like the first snowfall. It is so quiet outside, the sounds must be muffled by the snowflakes in the dense air.
The horses took it in stride, and all ambled out in it to feed on the hay bales I'd set out for them. I look out now and can see their backs are covered with a blanket of snow. That is good, it means to me that their winter coats are adequate to keep them warm.
I do wonder about the little birds that stay here all winter. They have such tiny little bare legs, how in the world do they keep them warm? I have my feeders filled as well for them, but have yet to hook up the heated water source for them to drink.
As for me, I'm sticking close to the fireplace today, as are the dogs.
