Hello Everyone,

I'd like to introduce myself. My Name is Kandie and I live in Northern New Mexico. North East of Santa Fe. I have 2 horses now. One Half Arab Half Andalusian Mare Named Star and One Morgan cross named Sugar Baby. Among my other passions I have several hidden ones that I don't really show the world. I have been finally convinced that I need to show the world my Photography. I am told I am good. You can judge for yourself.

(My All Time Favorite)

I have spoken with great conviction to my Husband that I want to Start a Photography business. This of course falls in line with the other 3 businesses I have lined up. (One Being Bath and Body Products and the other being Web Site Design) He is as supportive as a man can be with a Wife who has a billion Business Idea's and inventions in her head and wants to do every single one of them.

We discussed it and We/I decided to focus on one thing for this venture. So I am quietly saving my money for the Brand Spankin New Canon Rebel 10 SLR with Manual and Automatic Focus as well as saving for some Photography classes to step up my game a little bit.

In the Meantime all the Photo's I take are with a Kodak Easy Share Z650 with 10X Digital zoom. Here's an example..

The exhibit for this lion was closed off. I was a good 500 feet away from him. I pressed against the chain link fence, thrust my lens through the gate and popped off a shot. Not to bad if I say so myself.

So with picking one Subject manner I decided on Sticking with Horses.

(A BLM mustang my Parents Adopted)

My Own Mare..

on @#$ Someone else did this and I thought it was a fantastic idea, so I'd like to use the idea.

I'd like to find some people who would like Photo's taken of their horses. I will take the Photo's and offer them to you for free. The only thing I ask is that if you are further then 100 miles from 87535 that you help with travel expenses. Now here's the catch LOL. You can wait till I get myself a good camera (Possibly in October) or You can see what I can get with my current Camera. (Which I think does decent shots, BUT there are things I don't like about it)

I hope to put together a Portfolio both of Horses and other shots I take.

(Such as this one... )

(and this one..)

Let me know what you think and if anyone is interested.

hmmmm...I'm gonna have to look up your zip-code vs mine...I do all my own photography right now but usually take 50 million pictures to get the ones I use...ok slight exaggeration there but I do take a lot. I really like your angles and set-up.

Thank You!

I thought I was just fiddler and took some good pictures. Friends and family convinced me to try my had at it professionally. We'll see what happens!

5000 miles.. Absolutely not.. A Air plane ticket and a place to sleep, something to eat and I'm good.. (For now, till I become famous!)

There's plenty of things I'm not good at like....

Swimming.. No, I'm a fish...
Interior design... Oh no wait.. I love to do that..

Oh Oh I know.. ARCHITECTURE! Yeah, there we go.. (But then I've never tried it either... )

Hi Kandi,

Nice work! Your F&F are right, you've got a good eye.

If I can make a couple of suggestions, invest in your profession, it's more than just equipment and catching the moment. Don Trout has been a national level horse photographer for a couple of decades- (www.dontrout.com) . He does professional photography workshops every winter in Scottsdale while he's doing the QH Sun Circuit, not all that far from you in NM. They're limited to 10 people, so everyone gets plenty of attention, and he knows everybody in Scottsdale, so you get to go and practice on everything from western pleasure and halter to cutting, Arabians, hunter/jumpers, barrel racers, reiners and ropers. Gail Bates, in California, also does workshops sometimes and she does more of the digital stuff, ad layout, etc. The Equine Photographer's Net, ( www.equinephotographers.org ) is an awesome resource and a fun place to poke around the galleries and see what all the other folks are up to.

It can be a lot of fun, but it's not easy, a good workshop can help you figure out where the pitfalls are before you land in them<smile>

Good luck and feel free to come show us whatever you've got, anytime.
