Sugar, my new Mare has COPD, It is the main reason why she came to me.

She came from Mississippi and her Momma, Heartbroken asked for someone to take her in a drye climate. So I offered and Now Sugar is here with me.

So far I have only heard her cough twice and None of the other signs and symptoms are there. I have been keeping a close eye on her and alternating who gets put in the barn while I am gone.

( Since Star and Sugar are still new Roommates I keep one separated while I am gone. Last night was their first night alone. I felt better leaving them out in the pasture together where I could hear them if needed. Today is Sugars turn in the barn with Star outside, Fully ventilated LOL ((Barn has no roofat the moment but plenty of shade and water)))

Her owner suggested DMG 5600 and I will need to order some. Is there something else that someone has used with good results?

After I get back from my mini Vacation I'd like to start conditioning Sugar, doing short rides up and down my hill to get her both in condition and get her stanima and evaluate her breathing for longer 4 -6 hour rides I tend to do.

The Vet who checked her out and did her coggins said I should see very little to no signs of the COPD but to keep stuff on hand just in case and her owner said to give her a double dose the night before a ride and a double dose the morning of the ride to help her along.

While I will follow this advice does anyone have any idea's on the best way to condition for for these longer rides?

Your suggestions and opinions are greatly appreciated!
