At the risk of being chastised for stealing ideas from another board, I am going to share some information here that was posted on another site as I think it is way too important to not ensure it gets posted on every Arabian forum there is.
BILL HUGHES is heading up the drive to have the new Halter Resolution rescinded at our next convention!!!! Yes that is correct. According to posters on other sites, the man who is the past president of AHA is the person spearheading the force to eliminate the halter scorecard system.
For years we have all been complaining and wailing about the need for change in the way our halter horses are presented and that we need transparency in our judging.
The Scorecard system that was presented at the 2006 Convention dealt with both of these issues.
Now because some of the big guys don't want to see these changes there is a move to remove this new system, before it ever has a chance to be implemented.
Mr.Hughes is using the excuse of time. He cites the recent Las Vegas debacle as proof. First off we all know that the judges there did not use the cards correctly as they did not make use of the full scale of points. We also know that the procedures they used to present the horses was not the same as directed by the AHA Scorecard. System. The AHA system would not be as time consuming once we all get on to using it correctly.
Please get behind this halter resolution and ensure that Mr.Hughes knows that we want to institute the scorecard.
Let them know that we are tired of our industry being dragged through the gutter. That we want a new system and that we supported this in 2006 because we believed it was important to our breed.
How much lower must participation go before they wake up and smell the coffee.
