Paradise Egyptian Stud is pleased to announce that the Al Lahab son, Jadoube Ibn Lahab DMF, will be standing here beginning this fall!! He is absolutely stunning and is very much his sire, World Champion Al Lahab, in looks and type, but will have more size.

Hubby's gelding has the longest and thickest mane I've ever seen on an Arab. Think Andalusian. He has no problem growing it, but I can't keep it unknotted for the life of me! I spent an hour the other night just unknotting mane and only got about a third of it undone. I've tried braids-they twisted and knotted and made it worse. Can I wrap it somehow? It's beautiful when all down but horrible when twisted up in dredlocks!

Ask Esta! Caleyndar has a mane that goes all the way down to his knees and a tail that is several feet past the ground.

We only have 2 mares with really long long mares. Bekka our 4 yr old egyptian bred hers loves to get ringlets in them and it is sort of a ###### to brush out. Then our 26 year Sierra old has a really long mane covering her shoulder and it is THICK as well. We just brush it out weekly and when we see knots just get them out it takes time but if you keep on top of it's not too bad really. We dont braid just keep them natural looking.
But hey i agree who else to talk to than Calynder's owner!!! LOL

Just a couple of words...

GARNIER FRUTIS SLEEK AND SHINE LEAVE IN CONDITIONER...

This isa Non silicone based product you can pick up at walmart for $3.. It smells great AND repels dirt and knots. I haven't brushed my mares mane in forever and it's still sleek and shiney. soft and smooth and has grown 3 inches!

If you use it every time you brush their manes and tails the hair will quickly become moisturized and stronger. Not to mention WAY softer. Like silk!

I love this stuff.. When I brush star's mane and tail the comb just slides right through it. Not a single knot nothing.. I since I started using it I haven't gotten any hair on the brush.

There's also no fly aways or stray hairs. I love it!

OK I'm here!

I wash Caley's mane 1-2 times per month. Lots of Cowboy magic. Pick through with fingers. Comb or brush if it needs to be thinned out. Then I make 4-6 braids, but keep it loose at the base so it doesn't pinch or pull. You can either fold the braids up so they remain at about shoulder length (which is what I do) or bag them. You can find mane bags on line. When you go to wash them the next time, do not freak out as to how much hair comes out. it is just an accumulation of what would have come out naturally on a daily basis.

Now my other helper is my hot wire. I groom Caley religiously so he doesn't get itchy. But he also can't rub on the walls of his stall. If you see your horse trying to scratch his mane it's time for a wash. You may need to wash more often if he has places he can rub.

No secret to a long mane, just a lot of work...

Esta
