Number of downloads: 23 It was Friday and we were all excited to be going to Zone 9. I had to borrow a 3 horse stock trailer in order to haul my stallion and a gelding safely, with a space in between them to avoid any misbehaviour by my stallion. All was going well until we heard a noise coming from our truck...sort of a scraping sound, like metal on metal. When we didn't hear it again for some time, we continued on our long 3 hour drive. Then suddenly it came back, but worse so we stopped by the side of the road.
We got out to check our tires for heat..they were okay..but we could smell either brakes or possibly air conditioner smell. We were fortunate enough to have a few people stop...one being a mechanic.
He looked around and couldn't see anything serious, but suggested that it could be that our air conditioner had shorted and advised us to turn it off.. Thank God, I didn't shut the truck off!!
We continued on and never heard the noise again...and finally arrived at the show grounds. I parked the truck near the barn and we unloaded. Our big red trailer stuck out like a sore thumb," so to speak" so I wanted to move it out in the big field. The truck would not start!! We happened to have friends that lived 10 minutes away and although the guy tried, he could not get it to start...and then to top it all off he locked the keys inside!! So it sat there all day until my husband came with a replacement truck and hauled my pickup back home. He was not too happy to have to drive 3 hours to rescue me.
Anyway, the weekend ended on a good note after all.
"Image" won every class that we entered and the classes were big. (7 to 12 entries) He won his Sport Horse Under Saddle classes, and Hunter Pleasure classes and the Championship! We also did 2 Dressage Level 1 tests. We don't know the scores yet, but the judge had good comments on him and said that she gave him some 9's on the test. We had a couple of young kids with us that wanted to do lead line, and sport horse in hand and they both did very well. I loved watching them as it was their first time in the showring and could see their excitement...they will be future competitors for sure!
We all had so much fun hanging out with our friends and meeting people and the weather was great!
So it all ended well, and our drive home was uneventful, even though I was paranoid about every single noise I heard.....
I'm exhausted but its a good tired feeling....can't wait for the next show!
