Many people are unaware that Saddlebreds are superb at jumping. There are Arab/Saddlebred crosses that do VERY well in open USEF venues (H/J and Eventing). They can practically jump the moon.
We've bred only one, a USEF/USEA upper level Eventer and jumper, Demonns Be Gonne (Ara-Kni Sannsata x Commandos Starduster) and he was an absolute jewel. He was SUPPOSED to be an English horse, but he positively hated rail work (would actually jump out of the arena when he got bored) but thrived on the variety of Dressage, Jumping, and Cross Country. In his later years, anyone who was a decently trained rider could take him out and place with him. The collage is during "Devil's" main years of Eventing, my daughter, Chrissi riding.

The student's own horse had pulled up lame just one day before the clinic. "Devil" was also on a Res. Nat. Ch. USPC Show Jumping Team, carried Chris and several others in their Nat. "B" rating tests, and was qualified to go to PC Nationals again. He was NEVER lame, and ill only one time .... when we lost him, all too early, at age 16.
Tom Neese also very successfully rode his Saddlebred mare to the hounds (REAL Fox Hunts) as well as in both Nov. and Training level USEA Events. She was ready to take into the FEI levels. She has now made a return to the show ring.
