So, in light of my recently being horseless, I was seeking some ponies to play with and came across a rescue in my area. I went out to meet the horses/owner today - The place is FANTASTIC, and they take the worst of cases. I've never seen horses that so genuinely looked grateful to be alive and well treated... very emotional experience, to say the least. Really, I've been to a lot of rescues, but not seen anything like this. (anyone interested, not much on the web site yet as they've just recently started out, but:
http://www.angelshavenhorserescue.com/ )

Anyways - they have a NSH filly there (Dynamite, on the web site) who, while she's not much to look at in the pictures for obvious reasons, is amazing in person. Aside from the winning personality and vulnerability of a horse that has somehow learned to trust people again, she is really a nice, nice quality horse. I have no idea how she wound up in the situation that they found her in, but I'm positive that her breeding couldn't have been an accident... Sooo... I was wondering if any of you datasource gurus would be interested in doing a search of HA/ASB mares born between 2002-2004, chestnut, LH white, born in OH? I believe she was rescued in Litchfield, OH but who knows where she was actually born/bred... I have a sneaking suspicion that she may be an Allience daughter, but who knows?

Thanks!
Kristen

Hay Kristen,
I don't have the time to dig around in Datasource today, but I will try to do a search later this evening or tomorrow and let you know what I find.

I'm afraid we're going to see more and more of these rescues this year because of the drought and hay prices. Somone told me they were paying $8/bale for hay in the field, where this time in past years the same hay was $2/bale.

Hay in my area is already up to deep winter prices, so I'll end up paying more than $14/bale (100+ lb bales) which was the highest it got last year. Yikes!

Thanks Pat! I went back out to work with her tonight... She's such a doll considering the life she's lived. She came to the rescue neglected and abused (there's still scars) with a 2 week old filly when she herself was estimated to be only 2 1/2 by the vet. She's gotten over being terrified of people, but has the mentality of a full grown weanling - It's so sad because she really just wants a friend. By the time I was done grooming and chatting with her she had her head wrapped around me just being cuddly. I've spent a lot of time working with Allience and his babies, and I'm even more convinced that she could be one.

It's so sad that horses are put in positions like this - wish that they could all be saved - but it's making my heart swell to at least be able to be a friend to one. It would be neat to find her identity!

Hi Kristen,

I may have some time today to look for you. I did do some looking the other day after I read your post, but never came up with anything.

I'll let you know what I find. Hopefully she was registered.

Thanks so much! After I got the mud off of her last night I noticed that she also has a left hind fetlock, if that matters...

Hi Kristen,
I looked last night and found a couple that kind of fit what you're thinking, but nothing with Dynamite in it and so far, nothing from OH. I'll keep working on it tonight.

Oops - guess maybe my last post was deleted because I wrote what her old name was? (witch with a cool.gif

Dynamite was the name given to her by the rescue - so don't go on that!

I've went through 77 horses listed as chestnut half Arabians in Ohio on the Data Source born between 2002 and 2004. Only one came up marked like her. It was part Warmblood.
