Ok I have pretty much decided I am going to breed my mare Single Temptation in 2008. I would like to breed her in March or April since I want an early baby. So I dont really have that much time to decide and get everything done. Just under 6 months.

She has already won top in scottsdale in 2007 as a 3 year old in the english pleasure stallion furturity. (sp)

I am looking to get more neck from the foal with a bit more hook to it. My mare has a strong back end, but a strong hind end on the foal is crutial as well. A strong level trot is what I am hoping for. I would like a little more height in the foal to. If anyone sees anything else I should be looking for let me know after you see my mare.

I am still deciding between a purebred foal and a partbred foal. But I am leaning towards purebred.

I am looking to get a CEP or EP foal. I am hoping to get a HIGHLY marketable foal. Unless for some reason I fall way to in love with the foal it will be for sale.

Here are TOP 5 choices

Mamage/ I love him and his bloodlines, but I am not sure its a perfect choice for my mare.

Afire Bey V/ I am a little nervous of the Afire lines because I have heard some things..... but also some good things so I am not sure about him.

Hey Hallelujah/ little iffy on the lines together.......

Baske Afire/ He was reccomended to me by my mares old owners... Not sure though with the Afire lines But I do really like him. He is also known to ad nice hooky necks to foals that can really set up there.

Monaco/ I love him and a saddlebred stallion was highly reccomened and they usually add neck, hook and height.

OK those are my top choices. What do you all think? Any others I should be thinking of? Any input??

I know no matter what its a gamble but I want to make the gamble odds higher in my favor. I am hoping for a very marketable performance foal.

My mare has the most amazing personality I have never met a 4 year old as good, and quiet as her so smile.gif And I have taken her to 2 shows this year and she got firsts and seconds in everything and she LOVED the show, she was just amazing. So she has the personality qualities to breed as well smile.gif

OK I want input!!!!! smile.gifsmile.gif

Here are some pictures, video and my mares pedigree so it will help you see what she needs in a stallion and what she is like

Personally I would stay away from the Huck lines, there's way too much of that now days.

I would add to your list of hopefuls

IXL Noble Express
Triften
Concensus
Heir to Glory
Magic Aulrab

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I'd second IXL Noble Express , I'm guessing you want EP/Park ? Not hugely advertised but I also like R Fire Toi and Hertiage Banker .

Hmmm great pics guys! I am going to check some of them out right now.

I was really thinking Baske Afire or Afire Bey V but there is SUCH a conflict between what people think of the Afire Lines. I am told NOT to go with them as they produce weak strung out back ends etc..... But then I am told to breed to Afire Bey because he will make my foal very marketable since he is the "IT" stallion right now in EP.
How can so many people say these reasons not breed when Afire Bey V has so many foals on the ground winning???? Anyone know or thoughts on to breed or not to breed to Afire?? I am very confused about what I am hearing.

Also why not breed to the huck lines? My mare has Huck in her......

Oh and Monaco the saddle bred stallion is HIGH on my list and I have only heard pretty good things about him and he is more affordable any input on him???

Questions you ask when choosing a stallion:

What stallion(s) is/are consistantly breeding trot?
Who's get is consistantly winning in EP & CEP?
Do I like the foals that the sire is producing, would I buy one?

Once you have some of those answers go to Datasource and do a search for a cross similar to what you have and see what the results are.

Breeding is a crap shoot, especially when breeding for Saddleseat horses. You can breed trot to trot and get a hunter, so try for the best possible match.

I think some may say stay away from the Huck lines because that is the weaker hind end???

Right now my favorite is IXL Noble Express. I'd love to see more foals from The Hurricane and Apaladin, I just think those two stallions are lovely. Mamage is producing some great 1/2 Arabs, but that PB colt they debuted this summer was really cool!

Breed for what YOU like, because you just might end up keeping it in today's market.

Your mare is lovely and I can't wait to see what you get - Good luck!

Thanks B Oaks. Thats great advice. I am really thinking of Monaco Just because he usually produces big strong trotting foals and if I keep the baby I would like a partbred since I already have my purebred english horse and I cant really ride to arabs in the same class LOL, but I could show both if I had a partbred, but I am really going to try and sell the foal smile.gif

I think Hey Hallelujah would be a wonderful choice. He puts on beautiful high set necks with great hinge, and adds pretty.Strawberry Banks has a few of the Hey/Temptation crosses ask them.
You can go to their website and see some of the cross.

Comstock is it RFIRETOI CMF that you are talking about? Very pretty! His website site says perfect out-cross for Huck horses... As a AHSBA, I really like the stud fee for him. If I'm paying $4,000 to $5,000 for a stud fee I want a LSFG - Live Saddleseat Foal Guarantee!

"McBlue" If you really like Monaco and are thinking about a 1/2 Arab, might as well make it a NSH(Monaco is a NSH Nom. Sire) Foal to get more bang for your buck. Check out the National Show Horse Registry and check out all the NSH Nominated stallions.
