Karin A. McMurtrie has owned and bred Arabian horses for 25 years. For much of that quarter century, her beloved horses were a respite from a challenging career in law enforcement and forensics. Seeing the worst of human nature makes one especially appreciate the heart and spirit and beauty of Arabians, brave companions of humans for millennia.

W. Burton Staniar, MS, PhD, has joined the Penn State Department of Dairy and Animal Science faculty as an assistant professor of equine nutrition.
