The Colorado Breeders Cup is organized and operated by the Colorado Arabian Breeders Alliance. The Colorado Breeders Cup (CBC) offers internationally recognized sires for 1/2 off their normally advertised fee. Purebred elgible progeny are able to compete in halter, performance, sport horse, endurance and racing. Last year over $36,000 was availabe for payback. For all the information please go to:

Thanks Heather, I think you just did, but worth mentioning again and a few other things:

- Not an auction, breedings are purchased for half price. Resulting foal from designated mare is elgible for CBC events through 5 years of age.

- All other progeny of sold stallion at also elgible to compete that year.

- Events include: SHIH 1-3 years old, Halter weanling to 3 year old, Performance 3-5 years old including Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Country English Pleasure, Reining, Race 3-5 years old, Endurance 4-5 years old.

- Halter use the AHA point system and is ATH.

- Events limited to purebred horses only.

- This last year, Champion in each event paid out $1,500.

- Top Stallion Award paid of 5% of payout to stallion whose progeny accumulate the most points. this last year was about $1,800.

This program is really catching on and we expect continued growth. This is a great way to breed for less and have an opportunity to win real payback!

Yeah! That is great news! I love the idea of Breeders Cup it is a win/win situation for everyone involved.

AND if I'm correct... now that makes ALL of his Purebred progeny eligible to win $ there !

Breedings for the 2009 Colorado Breeders Cup will be on sale starting September 15, 2008.

This is NOT an auction, but sales on a first come first serve basis at half advertised fee. We are anticipating some of the same BIG names as last year, and a couple REALLY BIG names. We will start posting the newly nominated stallions on Aug. 15, 2008, but no purchases allowed till Sept. 15. You will need to check back often, as stallions added almost daily. You can also join the Colorado Arabian Breeders Alliance and get advance notice of stallion listings. Members can not purchase them in advance, but the advance notice can be a little bit of an advantage.

To fill everyone in on 2008, even with breedings down around the country, we stayed even with $41,000 in stallion sales, compared to $41,725 last year. We also had 75 stallions nominated compared to 68 last year. We are only just starting in the Colorado Breeders Cup (CBC) events calendar with the race and SHIH done in July (click here for details), endurance ride in a couple weeks from now and the main ring events in October. Already participation at CBC events is ahead of last year, even though Arabian show participation is down across the board in Colorado.

For those stallion owners, please get in your stallion nominations asap so they can be part of the excitement. They will also then be included in Modern Arabian Horse ad this fall, along with in the US Nationals program as added incentive to have them in early.
