I am looking for a reining mentor that would like to help me with questions and help me find possible resources that will help me become educated in the reining world. I can ride, but know I have limitations on reining lingual and proper understanding. I also realize ques given to a horse in reining are very specific for understanding and concentrating. I have reining patterns, but that is only the tip of the ice berg.Kaseyn is doing well and I want to be able to keep up with him. I will be recieving lessons from Rod twice a month, but realize I need more informations. Video's, books, any wisconsin trainers that also do lessons.

Any help would be appreciated or any direction to recieve some.

I bought several finals DVDs from past NRHA futurities from Waltenberry. They used to to the video there. They're only $50. much less than what Seehorse charges for Nationals or Scottsdale videos. finals is 25-30 horses.

Youtube is also a good place to watch reining runs and some interviews. if you do a search on reining or NRHA.

joining NRHA will get you the rulebook (which explains maneuvers and penalties) and a subsciption to the REINER magazine.

http://nrha.com/

The NRHA futurity starts tomorrow in OKC and runs thru Dec. 1. Last year they offered a live webcast for a fee, but I didn't have a fast enough DSL for it to work. Too much stopping and delay. It was from Mustang video. I haven't noticed if anyone is offering it this year.

There's an Inside Reining show shown on RFDTV and you can find a link to the schedule at the NRHA site.

I'm also told that scribing is a great way to learn some more. I've never done it and I don't think you could do it without a basic knowledge, but something to think about for next summer. Eleanor could help you with that.
