Welcome to Arabian Breeders Network
Achaean Arabians
We are located in historic horse country in Northern Virginia. Our farm is home to three Straight Egyptian stallions sharing the honor of having some of the best bloodlines still available in the US.

Since 1981 we have been involved with Arabians, starting with the purchase of our *Morafic grandson, Harem Shamahsheik. At age 28, Sheik is still going strong and still loves to drive the wagons for community events.

Leo if the forum gets the traffic we can accommodate . We moved the Polish forum stuff after we had the traffic.I know nothing about saddlebreds other than my first horse was bought from a farm that raised them over 35 years ago.La Fluer stables.

Fairfax, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sending hugs your way.
I know completely nothing about saddlebred and promise to drop in this subforum often to learn more about them. Keep us posting about saddlebreds, please!

I would LOVE to see more Saddlebred stallions posted. Just the right stallion would peek my interest in breeding one of the mares too. One of my dream horses is a Saddlebred.
FAIRFAX..perhaps you could tell all your American Saddlebred breeders to pop on over here and list their sale horses and stallions they offer. ABN is my main shopping place for stallions to breed my mares to

I will give it a try. Sadly, Saddlebred people are like all other horse owners. Of course we "think" out breed is the best...TROT does have a group for Saddlebreds, however there are a lot of us from different areas of the country who don't really fit into the "east" coast group. I will spread the word...but it is hard to find hidden in the part Arabian area...I understand what you are saying about get the traffic and then develope the space...I am just so sure that will work with this crowd. We are all "mature" and cranky...lol...

Thanks for the condolences. It was a blow...but more important I just felt so sorry for Marilyn (the filly). She had a lot of potential for five gaited...wasn't going to be three gaited

She was a little too posty in the front and her hind had the gaskin and stifle set for the walk behind while racking.

She had a pretty face. There is a picture of her on my website

www.couttscrossing.com that is where I hide out on the Montana-Alberta border..no terrorists are gonna sneak by me by gums..

I am on dial up so I couldn't moderate much...by the time I could step up to the plate...all of you would be on old age pension....But I will try bring people over to discuss things here....Leo

I will see what I can do just to get the word out. I think it is a great opportunity for a lot of us who are breeding Saddlebreds to also avail ourselves to a general format where discussions can start.

One thing for people to know is that Saddlebreds are not just the "crazy" horses they see hyped up in the ring. No more than the Arab is crazy. Like all breeds there are some problems. Swayback and club foot can occur within specific lines. Interesting to note...I know of two full brothers one has Lordosis (swayback) and the other doesn't. The clean one didn't throw it..the other did about 50% of the time. Parrot mouths can rear their little heads. Saddlebred breeders do not usually do much in the way of line breeding or inbreeding.

When going thru a pedigree you will see many crosses to Wing Commander and Valley View Supreme (only stallion to be World Ch. in 3 gaited...usually is won by mares or geldings).Supreme Sultan was probably the best known son of Valley View Supreme.

Other lines you may see are Stonewall--this is the female line on on many of the Will Shriver lines. He has created his own dynasty for Callaway Farms however he needed a strong hindquarter, hence Callaway farms acquired many Main Event daughters.

I really llike the Crebilly lines (behind Supreme Airs) and Vanity's Sensation of Crebilly who is the sire of Santana's Charm's dam.

Charm is the sire of Sir William Robert who has set records with his offspring in the futurity classes...both in hand (halter) and F.H. Fine Harness. He is only 7 so time will tell if his foals grow up fulfilling all expectations.

I will try and contact other people who know more than I do and get them to post...and add on
