Last week I received an e-mail from a person who said they knew of someone who was worried about sending in a transfer as they needed it back fast. They had spoken to them a few days before that.

My reply to that was: If instead of talking about how much time it might take, the person had sent in the paperwork back in the middle of November when they thought about it, they would probably be either receiving the new certificate this week or already have it in their hands. But instead, they still have it sitting on their kitchen table wondering how long it is going to take.

You know how this is going to end. This week they will in a panic contact the Registry saying they need it ASAP as the deadline for Scottdale is the 15th of December or the sale of the horse is for a Christmas present! They will fret and worry and complain about how long it is taking.

At this time of year, the applications and transfers really start piling in as people try to beat the increase of fees related to age of foals or show deadlines and sales loom.

So if you need your certificates fast, please be sure you have filled in the applications correctly and have included your CREDIT CARD number or a CERTIFIED CHEQUE. No work will be processed without full payment as that is the way the computer system is set up.

The staff in the CAHR office can expedite your certificates for a rush fee, so if you have left it to the last minute or something has just come up, it may be possible to get you your certificates on time if everything you submit is correct.

So be sure to take the time to ensure the leg you say has a white marking really does and that the correct boxes are checked off and all your address info is current etc etc etc.

Anyone waiting on a certificate:

As luck would have it, our printer that is used for the certificates has been down for awhile and as we utilize the AHA Database, the tech from AHA and our Tech have been trying to work out a configuration problem.

Hopefully it will be up and running by late this afternoon if all goes well. All the completed work that has come in is processed, so it is just a matter of printing the actual certificates and then they will be in the mail.

Hi Sue, I will check this out for you.

I am very surprised that you did not get a reply to your e-mail. Could you post what e-mail address you used so I can be sure it is correct. Maybe PM me so the office does not get all kinds of spam.

As for how long it has taken for your membership, Nicole was away at US Nationals for much of October and so she is just catching up on the processing of memberships. I will see if yours has been completed as by now I am sure it will have been.

Thanks for contacting me about this.

Marcia

Hi Sue,

Sorry I did not get back to you about this yesterday but I was storm stayed in the town where I work and am just working through e-mails now, so I have just come across Nicole's reply to my question about your membership and e-mails.

Both her and Christine keep all e-mails for a two year period and neither have anything from you after September this year so they are not sure where the e-mails went, but neither received one.

As for your membership, it was just processed and will in all likelihood be mailed out to you Friday. It did come in while Nicole was at Nationals as did several hundred others so she is almost done working through them all.

That is the trouble with memberships being due in December, which is also when everyone is sending in their weanling registrations. CAHR gets hundreds of pieces of mail at this time of the year and with just two staff in the office, Nicole spends an awful lot of time just opening mail and sorting it into the correct pile for batching and processing, while Chris works on all the registrations.

Thank you again for bringing this to my attention.

Marcia
