My status

I was just reading in my Horse and Rider mag. that PETA is at it again when it comes to horses. They think we shouldn't ride, keep, or train horses. As for me... I think they far off on reality on many of things. I have animals and there taken care of. I think we always going to have people who abuse animals, just as were always going to have children sex offers. I don't believe in abusing an animal, but when an animal is compared to a child in the defense of abuse, thats way off. What's more important here?? the dog or a Child? Society has lost it's values when it comes to animals. You hear more about helping the abused animals and things that PETA saids, they what people are trying to do to protect children from being victims of rape, beatings, and torture. I'm not going to stop eatting meat and taking my horse to a trail ride just because of some group of people with loud months say it being cruel.
Horse's are work animals... God created them for us to ride and we shall ride!

Any ideas how to stop this organization??? How do you feel about them? Any articles that you heard of?

I have heard that they support terrorist organisations that bomb places where animals are "experimented" on. While it is not nice to think of animals being "tortured" in the "name" of science, in actual fact most "experimental" animals are reasonably well cared for, fed, watered etc. However, killing humans because that is their job is just appalling.

I also think it is indefensible to compare animals with children. Yes, some animals are abused, and it would be nice to think we could find an education system capable of stopping the abuse, but it in no way compares to children or abuse of children. That is very sick (psychological) thinking.

When you read about horse abuse - even on this forum - and you try to do something about it, do you ever have a PETA person come by and say, good job in rescuing, here is some money to help you care for the animal? (Please don't laugh like that, I can see what you had for breakfast). Does PETA ever give a real fig? Kitty cats and puppy dogs? They are just such a farce. I don't understand some people's support of them. Some Hollywood types really need to look at the real world.

I eat meat. Ha, this afternoon my mare stole my husband's icecream (made from dairy milk) and ate it, slobbering it all over him. Oh, and she didn't colic, just went to her food shed and demanded her food. She would, quite literally, die without us. She so loves my grandsons, she would fret about them as well.

PETA just makes me sick. They don't care for animals, just their big fat egos.

I think back when PETA was started, it was started with it's founder's hearts in the right place. However, politics, ego and sensationalism has taken hold of the reins there and they are now extremists. Thier reputation for drastic, sometimes insane behavior has overshodowed the original cause. I would much rather support a rescue organization with the intest of taking abuse or neglected animals out of bad situations and making them whole again.

I am in agreement on this statement! Now, I don't have much use for them.

Was watching a special about PETA on HBO, there was a scene where they rescued a pitbull and brought it to ther offices, he had heartworms and instead of treating him they euthanized him, I was quite confused...
