Update Feb 2007

Posted by kasaj2000, Feb 16 2008, 11:09 PM

Updating this blog....I haven't been posting much as life has been really busy lately.LOL

Work is going well, sorta like the job I am doing, low pressure and decent pay. The kind of job I can leave behind at 4 pm.

I am down to two Arabians left to sell, Black Streak and Zorras Caliente. I am only keeping one Arab mare for my daughter to ride and one horse each for my DH and myself.

I had a new farrier out today, and hope he works out. Seams to handle the horses calmly and quietly even when they are dancing around a bit. The last farrier was a bit temperamental to say the least. I only put up with him as finding a decent farrier that will show up is like looking for needle in haystack around here.

I started a new website and actually have had good response to it. The Stallion Directory, an all breed listing of stallions at stud. I have been busy submitting the site to search engines and posting about it everywhere I can tot get the word out about it.

KHR~December 2007

Posted by kasaj2000, Dec 22 2007, 11:06 PM

The end of 2007 is almost upon us and I am so glad this year is almost over. This has been a hard year for us as DH's work came to a screaming halt, I have had to go back to work and find a sitter for our daughter. I have had to give away 2 of my young horses, one whom I thought was the best I had bred to date. Black Streak tried to remove his hind leg. Thankfully, the wound has healed with only a ridge of scar tissue and he seams to be completely sound on it. And to top it all off, my favorite Uncle was killed in a car accident.

Some things I am thankful for are: Well, we have our health (at the moment), I did get my blue roan stallion going well under saddle and attended a Pat Wyse clinic with him (he did good there too). I am getting the word out that I am going to train and while I haven't gotten any horses yet, I have gotten lots of promises to bring a horse for training after the New Year.

I still have two horses for sale: Black Streak and Zorras Caliente, both Arabians and proven breeders of quality offspring. I am trying to get down to three horses and do not plan to breed anymore for myself anytime soon.

Here's hoping everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2008!!!

KHR Update 10/707

Posted by kasaj2000, Oct 7 2007, 10:55 AM

As many have heard about Black Streak cutting his leg pretty bad, he is now at day 30 and healing well. Hopefully, in another 30 days it will have hair over it. Putting him on so calm has help tremendously with his worrying, that and having only one mare at the house. LOL

I have only been able to ride Snoopy a couple times due to things happening with life. I am trying my hardest to start riding him daily. The count down to the clinic in November...has commenced.

I got my HT cleaned out and have started working on getting it supplied with things I will need in there for 4 days..basically camping. One of my friends is also attending...and is willing to let me use her shower. So I won't be stinkin up the place LOL.

I have one mare out on pasture at a friends in trade for working their youngsters (old enough) getting them started with the saddle work.

I still have the black ha colt for sale or trade...the market it horrible.

Update and some good news

Posted by kasaj2000, Sep 5 2007, 09:12 PM

I am still working on selling several of my horses. I actually have some interest in my HA colt, KHR Bluespade Fox. He has had one viewing and I 'thought' the people were really interested in buying him. Not a word since they came to see him. Oh well, one more is supposed to come see him on the Sept 9.

I sent off some hair to have my APHA colt, KHR Spencive Hit, tested for OLW and to see if he is homozygous. The good news is he is OLW negative and he IS homozygous for the tobiano gene. YAH!!! The next step for this youngster is to hit the show pen in yearling halter to see how he does.

I am currently trying to get Snoopy and myself into shape for a 4-5 day clinic featuring the teachings of Patrick Wyse. This style of training is based on Monty Foremans teaching (I think). Anyway, there is a trainer here in Florida that a couple of my friends have used and had wonderful results with their horses. I was invited, so am going to do my darnest to attend it. I am hoping to polish my training skills enough to 'maybe' start training some outside horses should the oppurtunity present itself.

Elmarees Al Shama.....going to work

Posted by kasaj2000, Aug 11 2007, 09:29 AM

Since I sold my gelding Jerry (kaysa jerry), I have had to start working on another horse for my daughter. Said daughter is almost 3 years old and wakes up in the morning saying 'ride horsey'. LOL

So now, the job falls to my 7 year old mare (Elmarees Al Shama), who is green broke and very quiet, to take up the lead line rein.
They say a picture says a thousand words......

and another.....

The glow from the picture is my daughters HUGE GRIN!!!!

She loves to trot and giggles the entire time.....no she isn't that balanced but we use a magic seat to help her out. It won't be much longer before she won't need it as this mare is super smooth.

Cutting back....

Posted by kasaj2000, Jul 22 2007, 05:51 PM

We have lost our pasture lease and our work has cut way back so I am striving hard to sell several of the herd. I need to get to more managable number.

KHR sales list as of 7/22/07:

2007 black HA colt SHOW QUALITY
KHR Bluespade Fox, looks like black beauty and has the moves to be a working western horse, endurance, or possibley a dressage horse. He is definetly going to be versatile with a FQHR/AQHA sire and American foundation Dam. PAF Triple Codi x Zorras Caliente.

1996 bay AHA mare, Zorras Caliente, 14.2h, 8" cannons, solid built mare, green broke as a younster and ridden until she obtained an injury to her back leg. She is sold as a broodmare and is currently open. She has had 4 beautifull foals with the last one being KHR Bluespade Fox in 2007.

1996 black AHA Stallion, Black Streak (*FF Elidor x MS Glorie) PURE POLISH, 14h. Very Elegant, easy breeder, trained for collection, pasture breeds, or hand breeds, has several get on the ground under saddle and doing well. He stamps his foals with his beautiful head/neck assembly and correct conformation, while adding that pizzaz for showing. Streak is blind in the left eye from an accident prior to me buying him. He is available for a free breeding lease (in Florida) or for sale.

All of these horses can be seen on my website at [link=http://www.knighthawkranch.com" target="_blank]Knight Hawk Ranch[/link].

KHR update

Posted by kasaj2000, May 17 2007, 08:03 AM

It has been awhile since I have posted an update. Lots of things going on here.
#1 We are in our new Mobile Home and loving all the space we now have.
#2 Snoopy, my blue roan AQHA, is now able to trot figure 8's under saddle with me up.
He is doing so well. I wish I could get on him everyday, but life don't cooperate for me
very often.
#3 My APHA colt, Spencive, is now home. He is NICE and I hope to keep him as a stallion prospect.
Plans for him involve showing in halter as a yearling, right now he is just being a baby.
#4 Eddie (KHR Special FX) is now under saddle and doing quite well. Just started and seams to
want to learn and not being silly....yet. LOL
#5 Last and by no means least, my lil filly, Ayla, is now almost talking in sentences, starting the potty training,
and harassing the you know what out of me to RIDE!!! YAY!! confirmation that the horsey gene was passed on.

Training entry Jan 21, 2007

Posted by kasaj2000, Jan 21 2007, 04:41 PM

So I have been working my blue colt and recently our 3 year old APHA colt under saddle in the round pen. Patiently waiting for my friend (crash test dummy LOL) to come get on them for the first time. If I didn't have a 2 year old, I would probably have already climbed up on them myself.

Anyway, he came today and rode both the colts 2 times each today. I rode them after he did the second time. Both colts did awesome, with no offer to get silly. I am really thrilled with the way both of them are coming along and now that the intial ride is out of the way, plan to start riding them more and more as their fitness levels/balance comes up.

I did take pictures of both colts being ridden for the first time and will post as soon as I get them developed.

January Update, foals are arriving....

Posted by kasaj2000, Jan 20 2007, 08:03 PM

Jan 9, 2007; Our first foal of the season has arrived. A strapping black HA colt w/star and two white socks, out of Zorras Caliente x Paf Triple Codi. We are calling this colt Suede and he is growing fast. We expect he will go roan like his sire as he already has a sprinkling of white hairs in his tail head.

Paf Triple Codi, aka. Snoopy, is our AQHA stallion, he is also high foundation bred and blue roan. This is his first foal to date and he has exceeded our expectations.

Snoopy is doing great under saddle and will be mounted for the first time this weekend (1/21/07). We expect he will do fine as he has taken to training with interest.

Snoopy has 3-4 outside mares planning to come for a visit so we are sure he will enjoy that! We are very excited by the interest that is being shown in him as a stallion and he has yet to prove himself in the show ring. Hopefully that will be rectified soon.

Black Streak is now officially set up for AI, with licence in had. He is ready to ship. Now to jut get someone to purchase a breeding.LOL.

Black Streak

Posted by kasaj2000, Jan 8 2007, 08:28 PM

I sent Black Streak's AI Liscence money into AHA, now just waiting to hear back.

Last week, he attended an Open House at Lazy B Stallion Station and was well received. Everyone thought he was gorgeous and several took flyers/info home on him. So I am hoping to hear something soon if someone is going to breed to him.

I also had someone show some interest in using him for endurance.....she said she would really like to enter him into a 25. I told her, with his energy, he would need a 50 to even get tired. LOL

Oh, well, time will tell.
